Fellowship Curriculum

The AES Fellowship Curriculum provides epilepsy fellows and their program directors with a centralized, high-quality, and standardized resource of peer-reviewed educational content.

The curriculum consists of eight multi-topic modules presented in an online, on-demand course format. Lectures are provided by nationally and internationally distinguished experts in epilepsy.

Available Courses

• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Background: General 
  This course covers seizure semiology and the definition of seizure and epilepsy.
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Background Electroclinical Syndromes
  This course reviews electroclinical syndromes including electroclinical syndromes of adolescence and adulthood, as well as the less-specific age relationship. 
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Background Special Populations
  This course reviews special populations including epilepsy in adolescents and women with epilepsy.
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Comorbidities 
  This course covers comorbidities in epilepsy including ADA and ADA Amendments Act, sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), and psychiatric disorders.
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - EEG 
  This course reviews information related to EEG including interictal EEG patterns and ambulatory EEG.
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Management 
  This course covers the management of epilepsy including imaging- basic structural MRI, self-management for adults with epilepsy, the definition of drug-resistant or pharmacoresistant, management of children 1-12 years old, pediatric epilepsy self and family management, monotherapy vs. polytherapy, neuropsychological evaluation, epilepsy in the elderly, and the management of drug interactions.
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Surgical 
  This course covers surgical topics including surgery for generalized epilepsy/corpus callostomy.
• AES Fellowship Curriculum - Other/Miscellaneous 
  This course reviews information related to clinical trials, advocacy, and personal experiences related to epilepsy.
